"This is the confidence which we have. . . that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us."
- 1 John 5:14 NASB

Although Thomas Edison did not technically "invent" the light bulb-the idea had been around. for at least fifty years before he began tinkering with it. He did develop a safe, practical. affordable, and long-lasting source of electric light, which no one before him had been able to do. To accomplish this feat, however, Edison first had to endure hundreds of failures before perfecting even his first light bulb.
Most people would have thrown in the towel at that point and admitted defeat, but Edison had such confidence in his ideas that he viewed failure not as a setback, but merely a stepping-stone toward a great goal. In fact, when one young reporter asked, "Mr. Edison, why do you keep trying to make light by using electricity when you have failed so many times?" Edison simply replied, "Young man, don't you realize that i have not failed but succesfully discovered six thousand ways that dont work!"
When you truly follow the course that God has laid out for your life, you can approach every task with the utmost confidence that you will succeed. You can trust that all the setbacks you endure are molding and developing you into the type of spiritually mature person He desires. Above all, you can rest assured that as you encounter each frustrating problem in your life, He will extend His grace to comfort you in your time of need, so that you will be energized and ready to continue on in the tasks that He has prepared for you. :)
